FAQs & Ts & Cs

Hopefully I’ve covered everything you could possibly need to know! If I haven’t, please feel free to drop me an email sam@scrumptiousbuns.co.uk

Where are Scrumptious Buns cakes made?

All cupcakes are personally handmade at the Cake School in Wroxham, Norfolk. I don’t use any industrial equipment during the process, all the bakes and toppings are made in small batches using the finest ingredients, locally sourced where possible.

It takes longer but it tastes better!

Can you create a special design/theme/colour?

Of course, yes, that’s what I’ve become known for! All cakes, cupcakes, cookies… everything that leaves the Cake School are baked to order, so custom decorations or themed selections are no problem -they are my specialty!

How long do cupcakes keep for?

Not long! But if you do want to save some for later, they’ll stay fresh for a day or two in their box. Though I always recommend eating them as soon as possible. *Don’t keep your cupcakes in the fridge as this will spoil the sugar decorations.

Do your cakes contain nuts?

We do use nuts in the kitchen so therefore cannot guarantee that any products are free from traces of nuts. If necessary, I can email information regarding ingredients so you can check for yourselves before ordering.

Cake Flavour

All of my celebration cakes are Madagascan Vanilla sponge filled with vanilla buttercream, covered with a thin layer of Belgian Chocolate ganache under the fondant icing. If you would like something different, or a fruit preserve between the layers, please ask for my list of flavours.

Can you supply organic/wheat free/gluten free/dairy free cupcakes?

Yes, I offer ‘special diet’ products but there are restrictions on flavour with some requests. All our cupcakes are vegetarian and our ingredients are of the finest quality, and locally sourced where possible. We only ever use Free Range eggs to ensure happy hens!

Where do you deliver to?

Most of my handmade creations are very fragile and must be hand-delivered or collected by the customer. I generally offer delivery on orders over £100, within the Norwich area, for a ‘price per mile’ fee, but are happy to discuss delivery outside these areas if required.

What if I accidentally damage my cake?

Once your creation has left Scrumptious Buns HQ it is the responsibility of the delivery driver / customer. I cannot be held responsible for damage caused during transit or handling. However, if the unthinkable does happen to your cake, call me asap and I’ll fix it up as much as I can if I have time to do so… after all, I’ve spent HOURS on your cake so will be equally devastated… I want nothing more than for the recipient to be over the moon with their celebration cake, as much as you do!

Will you set up my Scrumptious Buns tower?

Yes! For £50 I offer a Consultation/Set Up service which includes a design consultation and setting up of the tower at the venue on the day of the event. I do charge a little extra for petrol, to cover costs.

Do you offer Stand Hire?

Yes, I have a variety of cupcake towers, pedestal stands and vintage towers available for hire. Most range from £25 – £45 for a 3 day hire with an £80 cheque deposit. Once the stand is returned undamaged within 3 days of the event the deposit cheque is destroyed.

If the stand isn’t returned within the hire period I reserve the right to cash the deposit cheque in order to replace the stand. If the stand is returned late, I will charge £25 for each 3 day hire period after the event. Also if the stand is damaged, I will cash the deposit cheque to cover replacement/repair.

How far ahead do I need to order?

As soon as possible! I would always recommend securing your date with a Booking Fee, even if you don’t quite know what you’re after. I can get booked up 2-3 months in advance, 6 months during the Summer months. The earlier you’re able to confirm the more chance there is that we can accommodate your order. For wedding orders it is advisable to give us as much notice as possible.

How do I place an order?

Simply email or call us with an idea of what you’d like and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. For Wedding enquiries, you can use the online form, on the Weddings page,  for an estimate on costing.

How do I pay for my order?

For minimum orders of 12 large cupcakes or 24 mini cupcakes, payment is made by Bank Transfer, details of which I shall email to you on confirmation of your order. PayPal can be used but there is a 10% surcharge to cover external costs.

For all orders, classes, parties, weddings, special occasions, bespoke service, etc. a non-returnable booking fee/deposit of approx. 30% will be requested in advance to secure your place at a class/party or your date in the diary, then final balance payable by secure Bank Transfer no less than 2 weeks prior to event. Payment can be made by cheque/cash if convenient and preferred. If you were to cancel your booking you would lose your booking fee / deposit.

Deposits and Booking Fees are non-transferrable. For example, if you choose to cancel your order you cannot ‘move’ the deposit to cover an alternative order.

Please note : your deposit is approx. 30% of the total cost of your cake. I will allocate the required amount of time for your cake in my order book. If you were to subsequently alter your order for something considerably smaller/cheaper, you would be expected to pay the difference.

If you choose to pay in full for your order, please note that it is non-refundable and non-transferrable, should you choose to cancel at a later date.

Can I order less than the minimum amount?

Unfortunately not, as the large cupcakes are made in batches of 12 and the minis in batches of 24. Minimum order value of £45.
